Long Island Wine Region Facts:

1973 – first commercial vinifera vineyard planted – Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc.

Number of Vineyards today is 35+ ranging from 2 ½ acres planted to over 500 acres. Osprey’s Dominion has 90 acres.

Total number of acres planted is over 4,000 acres.

January 1996, 35 vineyards = 1,800 acres.
January 2002, 52 vineyards = nearly 2,500 acres.
January 2007, 60 vineyards = 3,000 acres.
