Spring is a season of rebirth, and things are no different here at Osprey’s Dominion. As in years’ past, the spring of 2011 will see the release of some of our most beloved varietals, starting with the Riesling in April.
Osprey’s 2009 Riesling follows in the footsteps of the 2008 Riesling that was known for it’s sweet, fruity resonance. The new release promises to live up to the overwhelming popularity of its predecessor as it was recently awarded a silver medal at the New York State Fair.
Following the release of the ’09 Riesling will be two more fan favorites, the 2010 Gewurztraminer and 2010 Unwooded Chardonnay. The latter is produced exclusively by aging in stainless steel barrels, and features a more neutral chardonnay flavor than oak-aged.
The Gewruztraminer twists tongues with more than its pronunciation. It’s been a tasting room favorite for years and the 2010 release will be no different. The ubiquitous European varietal has become a prominent grape on Long Island, and Osprey’s has traditionally stood out from the crowd.
